Just some random stuff...

Tomorrow will be Family Fall Features where I plan to showcase some more decor from my sister Rachel along with my niece Amy and my daughter Diana. I hope you will stop back by for that as I join Ms. Debbie for her Friday Foto Friends segment. As for my decor, I did do a little something to the front porch. It wasn't much, but at least it feels like fall out there now. I painted a coffee can and planted a little mum in it to see how it does.

Tossed some fall fabric over my cheap little plastic table and put my month and some decor on the table.

Tossed in a little pillow and a black warm throw for cold fall evenings. That was my Tuesday project.

I want to do some more out there but it has poured the rain for two straight days now and we have flash flood warnings out for the county. I'll get back to it next week on my day off.

I took myself out to Texas Roadhouse the other day and some loaded potato skins. Wish I had some more of them today. They were out of this world.

Tuesday evening, I had a Thirty-One meeting where they introduced the new holiday gift guide. Check out the medium utility tote in snow globe pattern. That was our freebie for attending the meeting. I am loving that pattern.

We got our choice of that pattern or the gold Christmas trees. They were cute, but the snowglobe was still my favorite.

I love the new throws they are coming out with.

My niece, Tara, got married recently. She is so beautiful.

And to end on a little humor. One of the funniest things I've seen recently.

Have a great day.

New hair

Yesterday was the ninth anniversary of my blog. I found it humorous that on my anniversary I forgot to blog. In my defense I had a busy day. Part of my day consisted of going to get a haircut. Here is how thick and bushy my hair has gotten.

So I went and got it cut and thinned out. Keep in mind it was getting close to time to color it again because a lot of the gray was coming through. When she cut off all the excess it took most of the color out. Look, this is the color my hair was. Look at all that gray. Ugh!

So I decided to color it a darker shade for the fall. I'm very happy with the end result. But basically I had three different types of hair in one day.

Harvest Moon

Today is Monday....AND a full moon. The September full moon is typically known as the Harvest Moon, though it also has several other names in different cultures. The moon will appear full to the casual observer the day before and after it's peak. It will reach it's peak at 10:53 p.m. tonight.

I was fortunate to be at the beach in 2013 during the Harvest Moon. We sat on the balcony and watched the moon "come up" from the ocean. It was breathtaking to watch it rise. As we sat there we talked about it being a once in a lifetime thing for us to be at the beach during the Harvest Moon rising from the ocean.

But in 2014 when we took our annual trip, it just happened to coincide with the Harvest Moon again. Sky was cloudier and we didn't get back to the hotel to watch the whole thing, but it was still really pretty.

It is a legend that during a full moon there are higher rates of crime, emergency room admissions and people acting irrational. Teachers say they know when it is a full moon because of the way their class behaves that day. They say there is no scientific proof that a full moon causes craziness, but I don't need scientific proof. Just watch the people around you on a full moon and you will realize it does get a little nutty. I have to work today but thankfully get off before the moon gets full and the crazy comes out. Hope you have a great Monday and are able to get a picture of a beautiful Harvest Moon.

Prayers please...

I would like to ask my blogging friends to say a prayer for a family I have come to know very well in the last few years. The King Family lost a loved one and her memorial service is today. It has been a long week of preparation and grief. They have loved ones coming into town so it will be bittersweet to see those they haven't seen in a while but sad that it is for such an occasion. Barbara was only 57 and has been in the hospital for two months and they were never able to discover what was causing her health issues. After much pain and suffering, yet with a happy mindset as she battled everyday to beat whatever was attacking her body, Barbara passed over to be with our Lord. The family is brokenhearted and looking for answers when there are none to be found.

She was a wonderful lady with a loving husband, three beautiful children and an adorable grandson who is in kindergarten. As they say that final goodbye today, my heart is going out to them. I have come to know the whole family in the past couple of years and have gotten very close to one of Barbara's sons. She was a very talented artist, songwriter, singer and author of poetry. There will forever be a little of her living on in her son because he has inherited her talents.

I just pray that God will reach down and touch their hearts as they go through the closing of this chapter in their lives today. They are a good Christian family and know she is in a much better place, but that doesn't stop the grief. Please pray for comfort for them.

Friday Foto Friends

Fall is arriving. I can't wait for the leaves to start turning so I can drive up into the mountains and see how beautiful they are. I am ashamed to say I haven't driven up into the mountains since Allen passed away, but I am going to go in October. This is the view from one of the overlooks we used to go to.

The fall sky is getting ready for the equinox. Check out the cloud over the moon when I got home last night. It was beautiful....eerie, but beautiful.

And the Stampede is in full fall decor. I love coming to work every day and seeing the beautiful decorations....even if the hay bales are playing havoc with allergies around the building.

Hope you all have a happy fall this year!

Embroidery Hoop Wreaths

I saw a cute idea for a wreath made with embroidery hoops years ago. So I went to Pinterest to see what ideas I could get. I found some for fall....

A three piece set to do for Halloween.

This is one of my favorites. It is for Thanksgiving, but I think I would change the flower arrangement up a little bit. Maybe browns, oranges, yellows and burgundy for the flowers and a small cornucopia pick if I could find one.

Then of course, Christmas. I like this one real well too. Joy is one of my favorite worse.

Simple, but cute. and easy. If you go to Christmas tree lots or nurseries, they usually have a lot of pine cutoffs where they shorten the limbs at the bottom of the trunk to shape the tree. They usually mulch them. I have a place I go that one year I asked for some and they just gave them to me. And my granddaughter Alexis can always find me some good pine cones.

This is very pretty. Doesn't even need a bow.

So cute. You could use fabric or scrapbook paper, whichever you prefer working with.

Love this one. There are people everywhere who can do vinyl letters or if you good penmanship (I don't) you could write on it with a t-shirt pen.

They even had this elegant one. Perfect decor for a winter wedding. I would probably do this one with a touch of blue on the bow or in the pick on the bow and use it for snowy January.

Look at what they did with little ones for tree ornaments. I'm going to have to try to make one of these. Just need to decide what wreath I want to try first.

Fall is coming soon!

Fall is just around the corner and my sister has worked hard to get her outside ready for everyone to enjoy. Last week, we toured her inside fall decor. Today we will take a look at the outside. Thanks for the pics, Rachel.

This is another one from the inside of her house. Check out the big mug and plates. I love it. I need to ask her where she found that.

Thanks Rachel for letting us tour your beautiful fall decor.
