Fall has exploded at Mamaw's Place...

We are entering my favorite time of year. I call it "Decorating Season". I'm a fanatic about decorating for each of the upcoming months. So tomorrow is September 1. For me, that means I decorate for fall. Just thought I'd take you on a tour of my fall decor. I did include a close up on my Steampunk teapot since I made it from a Dollar Tree blue plastic pumpkin. I thought it was pretty cool. So here's my favorite decor spots.

Hope you liked "visiting" my home. Feel free to leave a comment with your thoughts. I love hearing from my readers.

My random thoughts today...

I need a new living room set. I am some blues and grays in my living room and a few light - medium brown items. I saw this set the other day. It was super soft and comfort. When I tried it out, I didn't want to get up.

And the pillows have every color in my living room. I think this may be the one.

The new 2025 Happy Planners are out and I went to check them out at Hobby Lobby. I fell in love with this one. It is the dashboard layout, which I have never used before. This may be the one.

Haybales and cornstalks @ Walmart. Fall is almost here y'all.

I made this display for my bathroom in the spring from a galvanized container at Dollar Tree.

Decided to give it a facelift for fall. I love it.

Well, there just some fun stuff for Friday. Have a blessed day.

Fourteen months

My sweet babies. Meet Gracie (left) and Goose (right). They are a sister and brother from the same litter. He was the first born and she was the fourth from a litter of five. The lady I got them from still has the other three siblings, all black and white with a small spot of orange calicos. Goose is an orange tabby and the mom was a calico. Gracie however is a Diluted Calico. Which means she has the grays and some orange blended in. It is a special rare breed and only 1 in every 1000 calicos have this coloring. They were born April 13, 2023 and they came to live in their forever home around the last week of June 2023.

Cats are considered kittens until they are 2 years old and they are just 16 months. So technically they are kittens but to me they are my babies. They get along so good. But they also rat each other out. If one is doing something they shouldn't the other comes to me and just stares at me until I follow them. It's hysterical. They have their favorite places to lay, but the majority of the time they lay within a few feet of each other or on the couch together. It's so adorable. I love my fur babies.

They are definitely house cats. I did have them fixed but they still have their claws. They don't ever go outside because I don't really want them to. But if I open the door so they can come out to the porch, they stare outside and dart back in and hide. They are so much fun to watch.

Leave me a comment if you are a fur baby parent. I would love to hear about your babies.

A simple Ghost...

This was the easiest and cutest ghost to make. You buy the soft white shammy towel in the auto department @ Dollar Tree. I had some popsicle sticks and a piece of black felt. I found the styrofoam cone and ball @ Hobby Lobby. You will see there are eyelashes from Dollar Tree. I thought about making it a girl ghost, but the eyelashes didn't stick good.

First step is to stick the popsicle sticks in wherever you want the arms to be. Next, insert two toothpicks in the head.

Then you just insert the head into the body.

Cut two oval eyes out of the felt and glue them on the cloth. Finally, just drape it over the cone and adjust it how you want your ghost to look.

I'm going to go to go to Hobby Lobby and Dollar Tree to find a small pumpkin that I can paint a jack-o-lantern face on to attach to floral wire and hang it on one arm. I'll keep you posted when I get that part finished.

Have a great day.

Weekend Wrap Up

My Amazon order arrived with my new pillow cases and pillow shams for my futon in the spare room. I also went to TJ Maxx and found the perfect throw for the back of the couch. I am in love with it.

I did a craft project yesterday afternoon. I used an old picture frame I had around the house. I painted it with a soft gray/taupe with chalk paint. Next, I cut the fabric to fit inside the frame. Once I starched it to lay flat, I glued it to poster board so it wouldn't shift and put it in the frame under the glass. I had purchased two cabinet handles that I got at Lowe's for $2.28 each and mounted them on the ends.

This made a cute little tray (sorry about the shadows in the picture, they reflected on the glass).

I put it on my dining room table with some of my fall items since the fabric is orange, yellow and green. Perfect for the upcoming season.

I put my fall runner on the table and sat it in the middle. I am very happy with the end results.

Have a great week!

Sunday's

Sunday's in my life were always about family. Sunday school at 10:00, Fried chicken and mashed potatoes after church. Some Sunday dinners were at Mamaw Eden's. Some were at our house. Mom usually made a cake or pie. I remember her homemade lemon meringue pie and chocolate. Not to mention her chocolate cakes or her spice cake with caramel ice and some ice cold peaches. That's what I loved about Sunday's.

Two full days

I didn't get my post made for Friday so just a 2 day catch up. Thursday night I went to my grandson's football game in Pigeon Forge. I have to brag. He made some amazing plays, but my favorite was when he ran close to 50 yards for a touchdown. I'm 100% sure, but I think that touchdown was the one where he intercepted a pass meant for the other team. Either way, it has the crowds cheering. It was an amazing game. That's my grandson #1 in the neon green shoes. I love his shoes because I can't always see who is who from up in the stands.

Thursday also started the 2024 Jeep Invasion. They expecting over 4,000 jeeps in town. Here are just a few that have arrived.

A good start to a busy weekend. Hope your Saturday is awesome!

Take Pride as a Country Girl

I get teased about being country and about being a WV hillbilly. Many years ago I wrote this about my life as a country gal hillbilly. This is what I think it means to be a country gal hillbilly and I am proud of it. I won't ever change so accept me the way I am.

Hillbillies. Southern girls. Country gals. Call them what you will, but they are a unique breed of individuals.

They love their man and don't worry about being treated like the little woman, protected and loved. But they have an independent streak a mile wide, yet appreciate anything anybody does for them.

They like their blue jean shorts and tank tops on a hot summer day, whether it is the style or not. They love their flip flops and will wear them all summer for any occasion. But in reality, if you ask them, they would much prefer to just go barefoot.

They can walk in 4" heels or run barefoot on the gravel. They are feminine with a touch of tomboy thrown in. They are always "afixin' to" do something or planning on "heading over that way".

They can play with their dainty toy china tea sets or play a rousing game of tag with the boys. They love to laze in the shade of the old oak tree with a good book, but get a gang of friends together and they will join in a friendly game of wiffle ball.

They can bond with the girls in their lives and forge friendships that will last for decades. They know the difference between have a boy for a friend or having a boyfriend. They will draw a line and dare you to cross it, then forgive you when you do. They have heart and soul and compassion and understanding.

They like sugar and sweets and won't hesitate to enjoy them on occasion, no matter what the health experts say. They love God, family, country. They respect their elders and say thank you and you're welcome. They say yes ma'am and no ma'am. They hold doors open for the elderly.

They go to church on Sunday and say their prayers before they go to bed every night.

They stop for funerals and worry about the bereaved in the funeral procession, even when they don't know the diseased. They believe every word in the Bible. Mom and Dad are always important in their lives. They care about family ties and love their siblings. Cousins are just as important to them as brothers and sisters are. They make loving moms and grandmothers. They know that Aunts and Uncles are very special people and they appreciate having them in their lives.

They work hard and give a good day's work for their pay. They have used their share of outhouses. They love taking walks in the woods. They love banjos and guitars and good old timey music.

They come from the hills and the hollers. They are southern born and southern bred.

Throw Pillow Obsession

I have a pillow obsession. I think if there is a space you can sit, recline, or lay down then you should have pillows available. It started a couple of years ago when I redid my bedding and decided to get the pillow shams and some pillows.

Then I discovered that you can buy a couple of pillow forms and then just buy covers for them, leaving you free to change the covers at the cost of under $10 for two covers in some cases. I just bought this cover for my futon in my spare room. More on that redo at a later date.

I saw these fall and I really love them. They have background that is writing. I love that.

And of course, I love Halloween and decorate with witches and jack-o-lanterns and Hocus Pocus. That's why I fell in love with these.

And these are a must have for Thanksgiving.

Christmas was hard to decide. I still haven't completely decided, but here are some I am considering. I am crazy about cable knit mittens.

But I think I like these better. Same pillows, only reds instead of grays.

But these may go in one of my rooms because I love barns and the vintage Santa.

So, I'm not sure yet what I'll actually get. But I am sure that my pillow covers will now be changed out for every season and holiday. Hope you all have a great day!
