Better late than never...

I have had a very busy day and am very late in posted, but this is the first chance I have had. I want to wish my daughter Diana and my son-in-law Michael a Happy Anniversary. They have been married 17 years today. Happy anniversary, Diana and Michael.

You could knock me down with a feather.....

Sometimes things just happen that we totally do not expect but they are such a huge surprise that we could be knocked down with a feather. That happened to me yesterday. But first, to go back a couple of months in time....

I was discussing my upcoming trip to the Thirty-One National Conference. We have one night that is an awards type evening where people get acknowledged for promoting up in their position. Most of conference is casual dress like capri's and 31 t-shirts. But that night is a big deal so we all dress up a little.

I had shared with my friend Stevie that I needed to find me a dress. She recommended I wear a little black dress which, if you are from the South, you know you should own at least one little black dress. Well, I don't. I told Stevie it was a good idea and I needed to look for one. I have until the end of July so I haven't really started looking yet.

Flash forward to the present.....

Stevie has been on vacation with her family in Tybee Island for two weeks. She took a day trip to Savannah and told me she bought me something while she was there.

You guessed it....A LITTLE BLACK DRESS!

I. Was. Floored! I was thrilled. She has excellent taste and I couldn't wait to see it. And when I did see it I knew she had picked out the perfect dress. It is one I can dress up or dress down depending on the occasion. She even bought me a beautiful yellow necklace to compliment it and a pair of yellow earrings. All that is left is for me to find a pair of strappy cute sassy sandals to wear with it.

It fit me perfect. I don't think I have ever owned a dress this cute that fit this perfect, like it was custom made. Thank you Stevie from the bottom of my heart for your sweet, sweet gift.

A few of my favorite recipes....

Over the years I have shared some good recipes (at least I think they are good). I have compiled a post of all my favorites. See something you think looks good? Just click on the title over the pic and it will take you to the post I wrote that has the step by step recipe with pictures included on how to make it.

This is the last link. It is not recipes, but pictures of some of my favorite things I've made in the last few years. Go take a gander at the goodies and let me know if you need a recipe on anything.

Today is a BIG day....

My Mom turns 85 years old today. Wow! That is a major milestone. She is the best Mother a gal could ever have. I live 5 hours away so I won't get to see her, but I will be able to call and wish her Happy Birthday.

Happy birthday, Mommy. I love you.

I love Pampered Chef

I had a Pampered Chef party on Facebook with my consultant Michele Maples. It was fabulous. All I had to do was send an invite to all my friends and then sit in front of my computer a the appointed time while Michele displayed the products, shared ideas and answered questions. I was surprised at the people who attended that never ever would have been able to come if I had held a home party. I even got orders from out of state family and friends.

I had a $455 party so I got some awesome freebies. They came this past Friday and I can't wait to start using them.

I have always wanted the stoneware mini baker in cranberry. And now it is finally mine. It is a perfect size for me and hubby. It will be great for baking spaghetti, lasagna, a home made pot pie, a couple of chicken breasts and lots more. But I wanted it to make hubby a smaller deep dish apple pie. I can't wait to try it out.

And since I have never owned a pastry blender, I got one of them for free as well. Thought it might come in handy when I make the pie crust which will be my first ever pie crust from scratch.

Since I am in this whole new mode of baking mini muffins, I thought I would do some brownie muffins and sprinkle them with confectioners sugar. But when I try it always just globs because I try to use a spoon to sprinkle it. So one of my other freebies was this sugar shaker to be able to decorate cookies, muffins and cakes or even french toast with this shaker.

Speaking of muffins, when I make the ones I roll in cinnamon sugar, I don't use the mini muffin pan liners so those little pans are hard to clean. Pampered Chef was offering their pink products in May in support of Breast Cancer so I also picked out this little brush to help me clean the pans. It is just the right size and the rubber tipped is perfect for loosening in hard to clean spots.

I picked up three of these Season's Best recipe books. I got one for me, and one for my daughter and daughter-in-law. It has some pretty interesting recipes.

I had earned $55.00 in free products. My total purchase was $55.50. So I got everything you see above for just .50 cents. I would say that was worth setting in front of my computer for 60 minutes wouldn't you?

Weekend wrap up....

I had a very uneventful, restful weekend. We had our VBS family night on Friday, which lasted about an hour so I hurried home so I could have an early night and some much needed rest.

Saturday, I just went to Walmart and to Kroger. I picked up some white Art Deco nail paint for a dollar. I decided I wanted to try to do my nails with one of them on each hand polka dotted. It was easy to do even though next time I will make the dots smaller. But not bad for my first try. The rest of the night, I just vegged out on the couch and watched TV, which is very rare for me. I usually am reading or crafting or something.

Sunday I went to Sunday School and church. Then came home and did a couple of hours of work and then took about an hour and a half nap. Then made hamburgers and onion rings for supper. After that, I spent a little while catching up on Facebook. I loved this post of the Ritter Park Rose Garden in Huntington, WV. I have so many fond memories of having family and church picnics in the park. We loved walking through the park and going to the Rose Garden. It was always beautiful.

After that, I just headed to the couch and relaxed until bedtime. Time for another week. Hope it is not as crazy as the last one
